Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

THE PROBLEM

"weary and carry heavy burdens"

Jesus describes a common condition of people here: weary and carrying heavy burdens. We often think that the reason for this is just physical, emotional, or mental. But our restlessness is ultimately spiritual.

We feel restless because we’ve been disconnected from the source of rest: God. This separation is because of our sin. Some of us try to fix this by being religious or doing good works, only to end up being more restless because the truth is, we can never remove and pay for our sins.

THE SOLUTION

"Come to me, all"

Come to me, all. Jesus did not say, "Come to me once you are fine," or "Fix yourself, then come to me." This invitation is for all. He does not limit it to the good or the religious. We don’t need any qualifications; we can’t earn this invitation. We can come to Him just as we are.

THE RESPONSE

"Come to me"

He simply says, "Come to me." This means turning from trying to carry the weight on our own and placing our trust in Him — saying yes to His invitation.

THE PROMISE

"I will give you rest."

When we come to Jesus, He promises something no one else can truly offer: rest. This rest is not just physical but spiritual rest. When we come to Jesus—believe in Him and have Him as our Lord—our sins will be forgiven, and we will find true rest in our relationship with Him.

TRUE REST CAN ONLY BE FOUND IN JESUS

WOULD YOU ALLOW JESUS TO GIVE YOU TRUE REST?
